READ TO SUCCEED PROGRAM
The Library’s Read 2 Succeed Program spreads the message of the joys of reading and the importance of continuing to read for fun to all children (and parents) in this city. The program encourages Grade 4 teachers, students and their parents to get to know their public library.
Each year the Library presents its Grade 4 Read 2 Succeed Program. The literature tells us that it is at the Grade 4 milestone that children stop reading and start spending more time watching TV, and playing video and computer games.
The program runs from September - May. A part of this program is a reward system for children visiting their local library with their families. Children receive book prizes.
The Friends of the Library provides support and funding each year for the Grade 4 Read 2 Succeed Program.
