GRADE 4 READ TO SUCCEED PROGRAM
The Library’s Read 4 Succeed Program spreads the message of the joys of reading and the importance of continuing to read for fun to all children (and parents) in this City. The program encourages Grade 4 teachers, students and their parents to get to know their public library.
Each year the Library presents its Grade 4 Read to Succeed Program. The literature tells us that it is at the Grade 4 milestone that children stop reading and spend more time now watching TV, playing video games and computer games.
The program runs from September 2013-May 2014. A part of this program is a reward system for children visiting their library with their family. Last year 1000 children received book prizes. This year that number is expected to reach 1300 children.
The Friends of the Library provides support and funding each year for the Grade 4 Read to Succeed Program.
